SYSTRA Supports Successful MTA ADA Accessibility Project at Greenpoint Avenue Station
SYSTRA is a proud partner to the New York MTA in making Greenpoint Avenue Station in Brooklyn, NY, fully accessible. As the consultant construction manager (CCM), SYSTRA oversaw the construction of three new elevators and other infrastructure upgrades.
The CCM team, led by Aftab Bashir, PMP, and supported by Jackson Ramirez, James Hunt, Astrel Dameus, and Piotr Siamionau, oversaw the construction of the elevators and other work to make the station ADA compliant. The station now features fully compliant stairwells, a new ADA platform boarding area, improved communications systems and electrical equipment, new sidewalk pedestrian ramps, and an improved station agent booth that is now at a wheelchair user height.
“Congratulations to the MTA and our team on helping make public transportation accessible to everyone,” said Stanley J. Rosenblum, SYSTRA CEO. “The ADA upgrades to Greenpoint Avenue station is an important milestone in the MTA’s mission to provide a fully accessible subway system and SYSTRA is excited to be a part of it.”
