SYSTRA Partnering with NY MTA in Ensuring Full PTC Implementation and Operations on All LIRR and Metro-North Trains
“SYSTRA has been a trusted resource and partner from the onset of MNR’s PTC project in supporting the full implementation and operations of PTC,” said Anish Gandhi, Executive Director, PTC, MNR. “The SYSTRA Team led by Dave Male, PE has consistently responded professionally and timely to the needs and requirements of LIRR, helping us stay on track to reach PTC compliance by the end of 2020 to meet the federally-mandated deadline,” said Deborah Chin, PE, Executive Director, PTC, LIRR.
SYSTRA, with our Joint Venture Partner AECOM, is supporting the two largest commuter railroads in the USA in their $1 billion, system-wide implementation of PTC, which will bring the railroads into compliance with Federal Regulations by December 31, 2020. The project has retrofitted with PTC equipment over 900 pieces of rolling stock, 160 interlockings along 700 route miles of multitrack railway, and 4 control centers, and has installed over 200 data radio sites. SYSTRA has led from the early Planning to Design, through implementation, and the team is assisting the railroads attain certification from the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).
